what do you pee on?

In my attempt to become the most useless person in existence, I have begun analyzing other people’s pee sticks. All made possible through three, very lovely, and all joking aside, very useful websites:

I can compare my BBT charts, pee stick results, and read other people’s symptoms leading up to their big fat positives. It gives me lots of {false?} hope, which I’ll take in any form it comes in these days.

Here’s my predicament as of late – I have a blue million internet cheapies from Early-Pregnancy-Tests.com and I’m now finding bad reviews on these tests as well as plenty of photos on these sites that show positives from other brands on the same day as a negative from my brand.

{The pregnancy test in blue. The same brand’s ovulation strips in green, which I definitely do approve of and that seem to work perfectly. So maybe I should trust the preggo tests…?}

Is it too much to ask for a test to give you a positive on the day of your missed period? {Let alone a few days before??}

From the hours of time I’ve wasted analyzed on line, it almost looks as if you’d have to go cross-eyed to see the actual positive until days after your missed period from the brand I’ve stocked up on.

BOO!

Now mind you – I realize I have to be pregnant first to get that positive and that if I am pregnant, I will find out sooner or later so what’s the difference between a few days of waiting?

The answer: A LOT! ;)

So I’m asking you – what did you pee on?

{So mature, right?}

As usual, I’ll take any advice you have in this department – your own, stories from friends’ experience, you own analytical views from online references… =)

And finally, I have a new survey/poll on the sidebar. As it looks like this cycle is coming to a close for me with all the fun cramps of the “dreaded red” BUT without the drop in temps just yet, it’s got me wondering… did anyone else feel like Aunt Flo was on her way and get the unexpected fun of a positive pregnancy test?

I’ve read several accounts online of people who did in fact feel this way, I’m just wondering how often it actually happens. Of course, multiple answers possible for those who have had multiple pregnancies with different symptoms.

Vote away!! Can’t wait to hear from you =)=)=)

  1. I used the Early Pregnancy test tests and I got a positive with afternoon pee 1 day before my period.

  2. I used the very same pee sticks and got a positive at 10 dpo at 6 at night, so it wasn't even FMU. I say they work! No, the line isn't crazy dark at that point, but you can see it without going cross-eyed. And for, what, 60 cents each, I'll take the lighter line!

  3. Oh, and yes, I had mega cramps when I was actually pregnant. Felt exactly like period cramps. TTC is fun, huh? Nothing like crazy ambiguous symptoms.

  4. EPT digital!! Buy some cheapy ones too. Take the cheapy ones and when you get closer to the test day or want to confirm the cheapy positive take the digital.

    Praying for a BFP for you...it's such a great feeling to see it!

  5. I have been pregnant twice and have two beautiful children with one on the way via Ethiopia! Both pregnancies I was for sure I was getting my period - I was very crampy. I kept checking and checking if I had so sure I was that it would start any minute.But nope, I was pregnant both times. The cramping lasted a few weeks for me with slight spotting, but I have two healthy children and had healthy pregnancies! Here's hoping for a positive test for you this time!!

  6. I used Target Generic and Kroger Generic. Found out around 4 weeks. I definitely had some cramps before I knew I was pregnant but I don't remember how much time passed between those and my positive test at 4 weeks. (Which resulted in about 4 more positive tests the entire day because I couldn't believe it.)

  7. I was also an EPT digital girl. Good luck to you - I'm sending happy thoughts your way!

  8. I peed in a cup! The first test was invalid because I peed all over the thing. The second time (this time using a cup!) was the actual day of my missed period with Walgreens generic test strips. I got a positive before I even put the test down to wait! I actually thought I had started my period (a little spotting) the day before and told my husband that it still wasn't our month apparently... I was wrong! :)

  9. I love your blog because I was super goal oriented about getting pregnant like you are! I know I always went with the less expensive brands when it came to things I peed on. Ha! Some of that stuff is sooo expensive. And since it took us a while to get pregnant (almost a year) I stopped buying pregnancy tests all together because I did not want to waste the money just to be disappointed.

    But for your other question. I am now 21 weeks pregnant and thought for sure I was about to get my period right before I found out that I was indeed pregnant. My boobs were huge and hurt. I had cramps and what I thought was PMS, not to mention I bled. But only for a little bit. Still thought that I had gotten my period until my nurse prac best friend told me that I sounded like every girl who comes into her office swearing they are not pregnant. Took a pregnancy test and Yep! Positive! I was about 4 weeks pregnant! So don't always take those period symptoms to mean you aren't preggers!

    Please keep us updated! It will happen!

  10. I used the digital as well. Gave me a positive the day I was supposed to start my period. I also had HORRIBLE cramps and was sure that I was about to get the wonderful visit from Aunt Flo. Hope the cramps are a good sign of things to come! :)

  11. I try to mostly pee on ICs. The only ones I've ever ordered are Wondfo brand that I've gotten from Amazon. The first batch of 50 (yes, 50 lol) I got were great, no evaps! I've only peed on one from the 2nd batch so far, so we'll see how that goes.

    In regards to the brand you stocked up on, maybe you need a tweaker to work their magic on it! ;) I may be a closet (or not so closet) pee stick tweaker on TWW! ;)

  12. I was also in the camp that was certain my cycle was just playing games with me. I was sore and tired and kept checking everytime I'd go to the bathroom. I used a digital but I cheated it was given to me by a friend.

  13. I got pregnant when dinosaurs roamed the earth, so none of my brand experience will be remotely useful to you. However, with both pregnancies that resulted in babies, I had a distinct taste of metal in my mouth from implantation on. I also had some cramping with the first pregnancy that was apparently some follicle or other, and then some mild spotting with the second. It was so different in those days. We didn't have the Internet. So different. Sending you best wishes, but honestly, it's awfully soon in the process. You are fine.

  14. I used dollar general tests. You have to ask for them behind the counter, but they work great. I got a negative two days before my missed period and then a really really faint positive the day my period was supposed to start. Most doctor's offices use the dollar general brand, so they do work! Can't wait for your results. I don't remember getting any symptoms until after I got my positive although every thought was running through my head about hmmmm could this be a symptom?! Good luck!

  15. Digital only - brand or generic, but it just takes the guess work out. More expensive, yes, but I only POAS if I thought I might be pregnant.

  16. I used a Target brand pregnancy test. I was a week late, thought I was off because of some antibiotics that I took earlier in the month. No symptoms, just late. The Target test worked! A positive result popped up right away. My husband however, did not trust this generic test so he made me get a brand name test. I used en EPT test and that worked too! Again, positive result right away.
    My best friend used a test from the dollar store. The one where you use the dropper and received a positive result from that test too.
    Good luck!

  17. I took the First Response test the day after I was supposed to start my period and 2 lines formed but one was very faint and I still thought my period would come. So a few days later I bought the EPT test that says pregnant or not pregnant and i took two to be sure and the both came out pregnant.

    Good luck!

  18. I used something similar (don't remember the brand) and got positives before my missed period, with both boys. I'm quite sure it can differ with everyone, tho. Saying a prayer now...

  19. I always used the generic Walmart or Walgreens brand and they always worked for me and my sister. This last time it was even the day before! Make sure you have really concentrated pee like first thing you wake up (you probably knew that). And I felt like my period was going to start even after I found out I was pregnant, slight cramping is normal.

  20. I actually "felt" pregnant a week before I should test and then got discouraged when I got AF-like cramps a few days before. I never got my period, though, and now I have a three week old...

  21. I used the cheap First Response tests and had a faint line the first day I missed my period. They looked just like the ovulation tests that I took. I had an extremely faint line. I called my OB-GYN, who insisted I take another thest because she was sure it was positive. I forked out the dough for the digital test which confirmed with the exciting word, "pregnant!"

  22. With my oldest daughter, I thought my period was coming, I even had implantation spotting (which I thought was the start of my period) I tested when I was 2 days late. With my 2nd daughter, I tested the day after I was late.

  23. Cute blog! My uterus is shut down for business now but I'm going to follow along with you!!!

  24. I'm so glad I found your blog. I've made a hobby out of peeing in a cup (not on a stick; I'm a dipper) the last few months. I may have to check out these cheaper tests.... Good luck to you - I understand so much the craziness you feel wondering about every.little.change. in your body!
